The Wreckage
My power from last night’s storm was restored around 5pm today. The power company was giving away bags of free ice but what was I supposed to do with that?
The closed road, through which police were letting through only ’local’ traffic (argh…my lights are twitching!) is La Cañada, the main road in town. Running four miles north from this intersection, 49 power poles or lines were still down. Trees, ocotillos and even saguaro were completely uprooted. (Will try to get those saguaro tomorrow.) The entire side of one woman’s house was ripped off.
I love the sounds of thunderstorms. But this wasn’t your typical thunderstorm. Winds were over 60 mph and the thunder, lightning, hail and rain were unrelenting.
TEP update: 60 poles are down
