Splitting Wood

When we bought this log splitter some years ago the advice was to pay more for an Australian made product. However last year the main ram bent. 
When we approached the manufacturer for a replacement they admitted that although the rest of the machine was Australian made the ram was actually made in China!! 
Not only that, they have seen the light and now only use the higher quality local part so couldn't provide a replacement. They did offer to sell us a new log splitter for $13,000. Over 3 times the original price!!! 
That was out of the question but we were fortunate with a bit of local knowledge to find there was a bloke in Lithgow who makes similar items for the mines. He was able to provide a new part $1100.
For the job it does that is good value.
