Baltimore
To Baltimore this afternoon (the original one!) to put some greetings card on the ferry for Cape Clear. The sun was shining, the pubs were doing extremely well and I had an ice cream and a small explore and found the old station, I asked in the craft shop where it was - right after the castle, about 100m and its in a hedge., was the reply. He was right and there, forgotten, is a whole station complete with platform and sheds. It was closed in 1961 and once had 7 trains a day to Cork, mostly carrying fish.
Baltimore is a good hour away from me and the journey was eventful a - Tour de Mizen cycling race was going on (earlier TJ on her way to work, had had to come to the rescue of a poor man who had lost control of his bike and gone over a wall. The ambulance was called), and all along the route Olympic banners extorted the praise of the rowing team who all hail from Skibbereen and will shortly be pulling like dogs!
The hot weather continues, two swims (one at 8am, heavenly), then spanakopitta in the garden. If only I could find somewhere that sells retsina.
