Sleepy babies!

Found this blackbird nest, complete with three live chicks, when I was clearing the nettles down at the bottom of the garden today.

I was horrified that their parents would abandon them now but both mummy and daddy are back and working flat out delivering worms so hopefully all’s well!

The chicks look like they’re about a week old, which means they should be able to leave the nest by next weekend. I know it’s a big no-no to disturb a nest to take a photo but I can get a clear shot from quite a way away with my super superzoom so I’ll go back in a few days to see how they’re doing.

And it’s as good an excuse as any to delay the weeding!

In other news… when I took my daughter horseriding today, I saw a bunch of my (now ex) Year 10s at the footgolf place nextdoor. I guess there’s no escape! :-D
