Chimney Thimble

Back blip #2 - just back from a long weekend at Courmayeur. This is the calm before the storm... it must have snowed more than 80 cm's on the mountain and 50 cm's down in the valley by my own estimation.

Resisting the temptation to just put a big landscape of Mont Blanc massif which I never get tired of... here's a detail picture. I love this chimney and the moss and lichen growing out. I used the word "thimble" for lack 0f any other. Looks like a shaped rock to hold down the cover plate over the chimney. This small group of huts is about midmountain and from the looks in use. Today was all but inaccessible from all the snow.
