Eastern swamp hen

This swamp hen was one of a nesting pair. They're setting up home quite near to the pedestrian boardwalk that runs along a section of one of the park lakes. I think the water birds have come to see that humans are a great source of food. The parks and wildlife and council staff have given up trying to make people stop feeding the birds so they give instructions on what they can feed them, which includes small pieces of vegetables and fruit. Better than bread.
