A hiding Song Thrush takes a peak out. It was half way through having a smashing time with a large snail shell. Took a while for the big and thicker shell to be removed, but the prize was much bigger... if you like that sort of thing - Escargot. Second one that I've seen it doing this month, and it's welcome to have as many as it likes.
The garden of the house where my friend S used to live in Cromarty was plagued with those big snails, hundreds of them, they were everywhere, but lacked visits from Song Thrushes. Enough snails there to support a huge colony of thrushes, with rocks-a-plenty to crack them open upon too.
