Into the woods

Supposed to be cooler today, but they could have fooled me!

We drove up to Shian Wood before lunch - it's a Scottish Wildlife Trust nature reserve about 10 miles north of Oban. At least it was cooler among the trees and we saw quite a few butterflies, including this Speckled Wood feeding on bramble flowers. Hazel, alder, birch and oak are the predominant trees. I imagine that most of the wildlife was hiding in the shade today.

I was rather surprised to see this sign (my extra) on the gate, tho' in fairness it was put there by the Ardchattan Community Council and not the Scottish Wildlife trust!
