What is this plant?

I have wondered for years what this is. This specimen has grown to over 2 meters tall.

Otherwise, today I made pots on the veranda while D went to Suwalki. We spent the evening in the garden, taking turns on the new hammock. It is extra wide, which means you can wrap yourself up in it and the mosquitos can't find you.

There are still a few blackcurrants on one of the bushes, so we can eat them while we water the very thirsty vegetables. One of the courgettes had grown to the size of a marrow overnight. Various types of bean are looking promising and the potatoes are dying back.
