I never knew that
When we were out and about yesterday, we noticed one of the fields the other side of the A1 to us had been cut and left in the old traditional methods of sheaves. After discussing with husband, he reckons they will be used by roof thatchers when done like this.
Anyway, after looking for a bit more info, I went over there this afternoon for my blip. And it seems that these bundles of sheaves are called a stook.
It doesn’t specifically say they are done this way for thatchers though.
