This is the 'Bachelors' Club' in the alehouse in Tarbolton. It had a large room reached by an outside stair, which was the most popular meeting place in the village, and in 1779 Robert Burns attended dance classes there 'to give his manners a brush'. In 1780 Robert, his brother Gilbert and five more young men met in the room and formed a debating society which they named The Bachelors' Club. Unfortunately now closed because of Covid. So no opportunity to hear a poem, have a dram and a blether!
