Insect Drone

A complete opposite from the tiny shield bug from yesterday. The almighty drone-fly. A fairly large hover fly, whose maggots are called rat-tailed maggots, and is a great honeybee mimic.

The garden is currently so alive with insects, I really don't need to venture any further than my own back garden for a wildlife safari.
