Diary of an Edinburgher

Therapy

JR off to the gym, and I spend half an hour on the phone to the COVID vaccination folk, trying to get them to send me a vaccination certificate. I sent a request at least two months ago. When I eventually got hold of an actual person, though not at the correct choice, they said it must have got ‘lost in the post’. The phone number eventually leads you, through several choices, right back to the website which hasn’t worked, and was why I was ringing them anyway. Grrrrrr.

I then set off for BodyStreet, rather more reluctantly than normal. Last week it had been too much, so when I got there, I suddenly decided not to bother, but to go for a coffee and chocolate brownie instead - much more beneficial. I think I need a break from it. So I stopped in at Project Coffee instead, and felt much better. And a walk through the park was therapeutic too. Not too hot yet, but heading that way.

I watched some Olympics when got home, though I do get a bit tired from seeing the same medal winner clips and interviews several times a day. I saw some Table Tennis, which bears no resemblance to the game I spent my college years playing. SO fast!

Before JR took Archie out round the Meadows we, on the spur of the moment, arranged another couple of days away in a favourite hotel that we haven’t been to for years. And arranged another dog sitter to try out, of course, as Archie HATES the car, so we can’t take him anywhere.

While they were out, I watched the women’s cricket ‘Hundreds’. This is a new summer format with 100 balls bowled by each team, and the women’s tournament is running alongside the men’s. And their games are just as great to watch - those wee lassies can fairly belt the ball, and can field just as well as the men. Most of the games are really close, with exciting finishes.

In the early evening we wandered down to our pal for a G&T, and delicious nibbles. A most enjoyable evening.

Torrential rain expected…
