Learning Curve

We've been hearing plaintive cries in the neighborhood for several days. The best I can figure is that this is a young hawk who's doing it's best to figure out life. It sits way up high, and calls and calls. Sometimes another hawk will fly in close, as if to check, sometimes not. The young one will suddenly take off, going who knows where, but soon we will hear the cries again.
