A Meandering Life...

AOG215 :: Boot Bunging*

Another eventful and rewarding day for Team G-Bee but because of my mislaying of the Press Pass yesterday I was assigned a more rural venue...

Nevertheless it ended being most rewarding if not informative. The venue was chosen to add extra competitiveness for the teams and I might need to explain why. Set in a field just north of Ravenstonedale, which is in Cumbria and not too far from Lancashire, the area is actually in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, a fact not highlighted on the towns tourist information. Past local indifferences still challenge some.

The ancient sport of Boot Bunging, as it is known in Yorkshire, can trace its origins back to when humans first started horseshoe throwing or pitching. Domesticated animals took to throwing human shoes into bushes and trees soon after. It is only in recent times it has been included in the AOG as domesticated animals have not always been included.

The winner will not be known until the the human owners come to retrieve their footwear, the last to be claimed becomes the winner. I suspect it will be Team Sheep who managed to find a pair of ice skates which I suspect the owner will not miss until it snows.

*Depending from where the teams come from the name can be different. In Lancashire it is know as Trainer Tossing whilst in Cumbria it is called Shoe Slinging. Maybe you have heard others..?

In other news I popped over to Morecambe Bay to have some work completed on my van. A walk along the promenade produced some images, one I have added in extras.
