Heather Farm

This is the Heather Farm wetland and meadows area alongside the River Bourne on Horsell Common. It is in the ownership of Horsell Common Preservation Society who are proving themselves excellent custodians of this precious landscape, previously the site of a mushroom farm. It is very popular with dog walkers but there are also gated off dog-free walks. The meadows were in full flower today and alive with butterflies and bees. After a good walk, and having made our way back on the woodland paths, thus dodging the worst of the rain when it came, we enjoyed some nice grub at the on-site cafe.
