Red Hot Poker

A breezy day. Not easy at the start of the sunday bike ride. Temporary lights were set to red in both directions on the A702 near Hillend, so I had to cycle through a long queue of cars. Just as I got to the lights, the police arrived to direct the traffic, so I got through quite quickly. The climb in to the wind heading south from Auchendinny was a tad challenging. Once at the top, the road side hedges provided some protection from the wind. Ride was great from Romannobridge onwards. Heading over Meldons loads of Skinny Tweeders were pedalling to go do downhill. As I started late, just followed the A703 to Leadburn, then Auchendinny, Seafield Moor Road. Roadworks had finished on A702, so no queue to get home. 68.95 km. The route can be seen at Relive here.



In the afternoon, it is still a bit breezy, but sunny and hot with occasional clouds for the walk up to Swanston. The T-Wood and Caerketton Craigs, Extra, look very green in the sunshine. On the walk back via Lothianburn the red hot poker flowers are out in force. They are in a strange place, not in a garden, but in a border to a car park. Then its back home for coffee and a bit of photo editing.
