Anniversary meal
We decided to take advantage of the fact that the sun was still shining and head out today. After a toss up we opted to head for East Lothian and shared a ploughman's lunch at Smeaton, while sitting in the gardens and watching the birds. From East Linton we headed for the coast, to North Berwick. We parked away from the centre and walked down into the town. We were about to head along the sand when I realised I wasn't quite recovered from yesterday's lurgy. We headed for home, stopping briefly at Port Seton to pick up some fresh haddock for tomorrow's dinner, such a delicious fish, we are lucky to be able to buy it so freshly caught.
Once I got home, I managed to get some Cursillo admin done and to make a couple of phone calls over the course of the day, so I can relax about that for a while.
For dinner tonight we decided to have some of the Côte anniversary meal which I hadn't felt up to yesterday. We decided to have only what is pictured. The starter of smoked salmon rillettes with fresh baguette - Colin had the sour dough provided but I prefer plain so provided my own - and the dessert of profiteroles with chocolate sauce, augmented with garden raspberries. We shared one of the two portions provided. We'll have the other tomorrow along with the main course. We also had a couple of the included hotel chocolat champagne truffles. Garden sweet peas on the table too so a heavenly scent. This anniversary is lasting several days, lol.
We had bridge this evening too and followed that with the first episode of University Challenge which we had missed. I see Only Connect has started again too, Monday evening's viewing is sorted once more.
We had a lovely day weatherwise warm sunshine with a light breeze and no sign of the threatened rain and thunderstorms. The rain has just started as I write though, at 11.59pm. Hopefully it won't be too bad and the sun will be back tomorrow. The garden will be grateful I'm sure.
Its now ten minutes past midnight and the rain has stopped again!
Keep safe everybody, and keep well. Life is beginning to feel a bit better, let's keep it that way!
