For some reason the most efficient model of GU-10 equivalent doesn't fit in the holders so have had to be replaced with the next model down, whose heatsink/vent bits at least match the mounts. Both halves of the expanded kitchen are now illuminatible, the new fridge is installed and switched-on (though appears oddly blue inside, perhaps because white LEDs still chuck out too much spare heat to be used as fridge lights) and sufficient plugs and worktop are available for the coffee machine to have been moved back through.
