Tuesday: Slad Church

We went for a lovely long walk today across fields and paths to Slad, a small village close to Stroud.  It’s got a fabulous pub, ‘The Woolpack’, where we enjoyed a few pints looking out over the valley.  The pub is particularly well-known as being Laurie Lee’s local (of ‘Cider with Rosie’ fame).

We then walked into Stroud, where we had a few more drinks, at ‘The Retreat’ and ‘The Alehouse’, where Joe’s friend, Theo, joined us.  It’s been a great day and it’s so nice catching up.  

We’re very lucky - when we booked the flights we had fully expected to have to quarantine on arrival but the rules changed recently and as we’re double vaccinated we haven’t had to.
