Towpath Totem

Today's image is part of a carved wooden towpath walking route marker post at Teston Bridge Country Park. I realised I hadn't been back there since the last lockdown and I felt in need of a walk and some fresh air.
The park's setting is idyllic with a sweeping grazed meadow and 12 acres of walks alongside the River Medway overlooked by a ragstone bridge dating from the 14th Century. I didn't manage 12 acres but I throughly enjoyed my circular walk through the meadow, past the lock and along the river towpath.
Watched a fantastic programme on BBC2 last night "Chris Packham: The Walk That Made Me". It has the same production team that was behind the superb Winter Walks series that was on BBC4 earlier in the year.
Chris was holding a 360-degree camera as he walked along the River Itchen in Hampshire.
It's a beautiful part of the world where he cut his teeth as a naturalist, and his walk - beginning a few miles outside Southampton and ending at Winchester Cathedral -  evokes memories of his sometimes difficult childhood, as he reveals in unflinching terms what it is like to live with autism (he wasn't diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome until he was in his 20's). One review described it as "captivating" and I would wholeheartedly agree.
