Seasonal Challenge

It is summer, but it’s not feeling summery this week. The school summer holidays are often a signal for it beginning to feel distinctly autumnal in these parts.

There are more seed-heads than flowers. These ornamental poppies - which appeared from nowhere - flowered briefly, but their seed heads (which I think I prefer) seem to stay on a long time. Their task is to get the seeds scattered in the right places, to then survive the winter, and for new plants to emerge next spring/ summer.
