I took this photo of Tao whilst we sat in the White Horse Tavern, drinking beer and trying to warm up after an hour talking on a park bench. The day before I had finished reading his remarkable novel Taipei and the day after we had bought the UK rights.

The White Horse Tavern is where Dylan Thomas had his last session before checking out. Thankfully we left unscathed. But definitely altered.
