Bowness

After a reasonably healthy and leisurely breakfast - albeit, after I’d done a stint on a treadmill in the hotel gym - we boarded one of the boats at the pier; we were taking a boat to Bowness and then, later, onward to Ambleside before a return journey to Lakeside.   Although the day was cloudy, it was a lot of fun on the boats which were not crowded because of the need to socially distance people.  Looking at the side of the lake managed by organisations like The National Trust it looks really undisturbed. There is more development on the opposite shore but, even that, it beautiful. There are some amazing properties.

We did not really give ourself long enough at Bowness. We disembarked and walked along the lake watching rafts of ducks hanging around waiting to be fed by the tourists.  By the time we thought about coffee we really need to start walking back to catch the next leg our our journey - although not before my brother had introduced his son to Kendall Mint Cake from the tourist shop. We all agreed it does - and always did - have a taste of toothpaste.
