Portuguese Picnic
As we're otherwise engaged on Sunday, invited Cecílio and Ermelinda for a picnic lunch today, beneath Noudar castle. The Portuguese like tables with tablecloths for their picnics, so we obliged, with a folding table we found in the caravan and an old tablecloth of my Mum's … and decided we actually quite liked eating at a table rather than on the ground.
Shame not to show the setting, the medieval castle on the hill above us, rolling hills in every direction, and sitting in the shade of an ancient olive tree (same one we ate under with Jan and Keith). And utter silence. When we weren't talking.
Here, on a former visit.
Gratefuls:
- introducing Ermelinda to Noudar (she's never been)
- having a first aid kit in the car when Mike cut his head on an olive branch, racing round the car to get a corkscrew (for a screw top bottle)
- Mike making more progress on the shade after we got back
