Bird lady

I visited the Whitaker Museum in Rawtenstall this afternoon, just reopened after building a new extension and refurbishment. One of the new displays was a cabinet of curiosities which included this figure with a head of birds’ heads. I’m thinking this was an artist’s work in response to the natural history collection which includes a large number of stuffed birds and animals.
