Windmill 'De Dankbaarheid', Herkingen

'Dankbaarheid' means 'thankfulness'.  There's a lot to be thankful for, yes.

Left late in the afternoon for this one.  Timed my departure so that I would get a blue sky by the time I got there, and I got it.  Loads of fluffy cumulus floating around but the sun got through.

The dike on which this mill is standing is quite narrow, and a full frontal shot was not possible on it, so I had to go down the dike to get this.  Can you spot the two German tourists?  They spent quite a bit of time near it, eating their snacks and posing.  They might have to present a negative test before being allowed back into Germany, where the rules have yet again been changed, or they might simply hang around here until the restrictions there are lifted.  Hopefully no problems for them.

Our very own Kiran Badloe won gold in the RX windsurfing race, following previous golds won by Dutch windsurfers in 2012 and 2016.  In Paris, this number will be replaced with windfoiling.  No idea what that is, but enough time to look it up.  I hope to be able to go to Paris for the 2024 Olympics.  Might be a good plan to start saving for it now.  As John L. once said, though, 'Life is what happens while we are busy making other plans.'  Something to go for, anyway.

After Herkingen, phoned Micky if I could drop by on the way home.  Her son, daughter-in-law, and 2-month-old grandson were there, and did they mind, and did I mind?  Everyone said they didn't mind, so phoned AW that I would be slightly late, and spent half an hour at her place, admiring the new baby, seeing that she was all right.  Micky has been through the wringer this past 1.5 years and it was good to see that she was feeling much better.  Nobody talked about work, a good sign.

AW did wait for me, though, so we had dinner together, and we had a quiet evening afterwards, each his own way.  No one stayed up late for the Games.

Thank you for visiting yesterday, and for leaving some stars!  Thank you!
