The Miners

On July 17, 2015, the statue 'the miners' was unveiled. It was the year in which it was remembered that it was 50 years ago that the mines in Limburg were closed.

The miners are recognizable in the picture, that they may be seen. They represent the employees who are often not in the picture, who seem to be self-evident, without a name and without a face. are. They formed the backbone of the economy in Limburg and felt written off when the mines were closed (1965-1974).

But with this image, we also want to reflect on the families of which the father and often also one or more children suddenly became unemployed. That has had a huge impact, with people having a hard time both materially and spiritually. Their future seemed over. How would you react if this happened to you?
