A day walking around Rye

After the weather caused us to postpone an anniversary day out on Monday, we were much luckier today, heading down to Rye in East Sussex to have a walk around the town and then down to the sea and back via Camber Castle.

Rye is tremendously photogenic with its cobbled streets and period architecture (we walked past "The House with Two Front Doors", and later had a drink in "The Mermaid"), and the walk down past the Harbour and along the beach took us past a wildlife reserve that was full of various seabirds, egrets, cormorants, etc (shame we hadn't bought our binoculars).

On the shingle next to an old wartime pillbox was a temporary sculpture/artwork (The Beacon, by Joseph Williams) constructed of bamboo and stretch rigging. The blip is a view up inside (one of my extras is a view of the artwork from inside the pillbox - quite like the contrast of the fabric and the concrete).
