City of birches
Not to be confused with a bunch of birches in a completely different city.
Umeå is very serious about its birches. After a major fire in 1888, the city widened many streets and planted almost 3,000 birches in order to prevent future fires from spreading.
These birches are, strictly speaking, a short walk outside the city centre. But I quite like walking there.
First extra: the underbelly of Lundabron; Sweden’s (draws breath) longest cable-stayed shared use bridge. Pedestrians and bicycles allowed.
Second extra: city centre, reflected in the river.
