A Scottish "Versailles "
Imagine a mini Versailles – without the crowds- set in spectacular Scottish landscape. Well that’s Drummond castle gardens, near Crieff, which we visited this afternoon.
There is a strong French influence which makes the garden unique amongst Scottish gardens. Built in 1490 by John, 1stLord Drummond, it is the second Earl who succeeded in 1612 who is credited with transforming both the gardens and the castle.
These stunning gardens are open daily to the public throughout the summer months. ( Today was a special charity event for Scotland’s Gardens). Although I have visited them several times over the years I never cease to be amazed
at the sheer vision behind this architectural garden design
