Mobbed
A quiet day. Caught up on the gymnastics and eventing from the Olympics this morning - amuses me how quickly you start to feel an expert on all the technical terms when you listen to a lot of the commentary, yet how meaningless the words are in the abstract. Also think it would be good to have a few people who were hopeless at each event (or even just less good!) so it would be easier to get a sense of what aspects are so difficult - hard when almost everyone is so fantastically good!
When Kt got back from dog training it poured with rain again (so much for 1st August!), so we had some coffee and I did some photo editing and talked to A who's pulled a muscle in her neck and not feeling up to meeting up for a walk later. T woke up in time for us to go to the Carrington Arms for lunch. They didn't do the roast we expected but we enjoyed our monkfish, lamb and porterhouse steak and even managed starters and desserts although then had to come home and let T snooze again! I arranged to pick up AR and Mx tomorrow and take them to Whipsnade Zoo (where, apparently, they also have dinosaurs!).
Later in the day it brightened up so we went to the allotment and did some weeding and harvesting of onions, kale, garlic, carrots (odd shapes!), sweet peas and potatoes. Outside their house is a pylon that, unlike the others nearby, is mobbed by starlings each evening - making a lot of noise and perched on almost every ledge they can find.
Home and I sorted some laundry then we watched more Olympics whilst I did more photo editing and then we all played a 'name 5 things' game, with categories like 'countries beginning with C' and 'Disney films' and 'spicy foods'. Lot of laughs, mainly down to T's clues which were very idiosyncratic!
