Cliff fall at Belle Tout lighthouse.
My blip cannot do this justice - this is much better.
Part of the path along the cliff has disappeared leaving a big hole.
This is no longer a lighthouse. It's now a hotel or B and B. There are guests staying - apparently the fall sounded like thunder. The lighthouse was moved back (an amazing feat) 50m in 1998 because of erosion. I wonder if it might need to be done again, although the cost might be prohibitive.
The news report said people were having to be warned to stay back from the edge where they were taking selfies. No surprise to me - it happens all the time, and there have been fatalities. Chalk erodes a lot faster than stone.
