The Sun Chariot
Today our time traveller app took us to Odsherred to the Sun Chariot's Finding Place in Trundholm Bog.
The Sun Chariot was made in the Early Bronze Age around 1400 BC and was found in September 1902, when the former bog was ploughed. It can now be seen in The National Museum of Denmark in Copenhagen.
The Finding Place is located at the end of the long narrow road and first stop is a monumental gate, which leads on to new views and experiences inside the landscape.
Later on the route, there is another monumental relief and the exact finding place is marked with a stone.
It was a great experience and a lovely walk for the boys.
Next stop was Næsholm Fortress, a very interesting old fortress surrounded by a huge lake. The walk around took about an hour, which was perfect for the boys.
No one knows exactly who built it or why as there has never been found any mention of it in any of the written documents from that time, but it is built in 1278. You can see pictures in the extra.
Another fabulous day.
See you tomorrow
