In 1862, Georg Michael Pfaff, an instrument maker by trade, made his first sewing machine and founded the G. M. PFAFF sewing machine factory in Kaiserslautern.

2009 the company moved to the industrial zone, Kaiserslautern Nord.

Last year I've been to a photo exhibition by the Kaiserslautern photographer Jörg Heieck about the everyday things people left in the factory buildings. It was very interesting, but sad. A few images of the exhibition

From the train it looked like light and life was back in the old building, but it was only the sun reflecting in the old and dirty windows.
But I have no doubt: Pfaffianer, as the company workers called themselves, would like this shot.
