Sally Mair - Loving life

Silver Seas

It was a beautiful morning today, so once I'd hung up the washing we headed across to Fife. Went is it that there is always nose to tail crawling traffic across the new bridge until you get just over the crest, then it all thins out and moves off at a respectable speed. It doesn't make any sense!
We turned right and headed east through Aberdour and stopped at the Silversands beach. I haven't been there for a while, but it was very pleasant, quite busy, but clean and friendly. We popped into the beach cafe and split a sandwich for lunch
All very clean and safe feeling and operating very efficiently. We sat on the terrace for over an hour enjoying the warm air and the sights. One of which is in the extras. I don't often take pictures of people without permission, but these two made me smile, there they were at the beach in hot sunshine complete with tats, black bikinis and doc martens. There was somehow something charmingly scottish about them. The water was sparkling and the views across the Fourth to Edinburgh and East Lothian, the Bass Rock was gleaming white even from that distance. There were kayakers, boarders, swimmers and sailors, not to mention a large number of swimmers and paddlers. We watched some cormorants fishing and even spotted the seals on the rocks outside Burntisland. The water was sparkling beautifully in the sunshine. The lifeguard notice said the water temp was 13° and the air temp 16-18°. Their comment on the temperature was that it was, sizzling! We have different standards in Scotland lol.
We headed back into the car after a walk around to the point and back and drove along the coast stopping briefly in Burntisland and Kinghorn. It's sad to see how run down they have become.
We headed back home, getting there around 4.30pm and spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden relaxing in the sun. It was good to have our dinner outside again too, long may that continue.
We watched Only Connect and University Challenge - on the day! - for the first time this season. My brain was working better at the perverse connective links rather than intelligence testing tonight.
Keep safe everybody and thank you for the lovely comments about my little waitress yesterday. She brings us so much joy.
