Major Tom

Today's excursion with William was to visit three rockets in the LOROS Rocket Round Leicester fund-raising project this year. LOROS is the county led hospice. It gets a grant from the county council but has to raise a commensurate amount of money itself, which has been difficult in the last 18 months.

Rocket Round Leicester features 40 rockets in various locations all painted by different local artists. They will be auctioned off on October 13th. I hope some will be kept.

Major Tom stands at the entrance to the National Space Centre by the River Soar. It features a cat swimming in a goldfish bowl trying to catch some fish. A great start.

We walked on the path by the River Soar to Abbey Park where we found a rocket at the café inspired by Sir David Attenborough showing all the wildlife that could be found in Abbey Park. Over the bridge and across the grass, we found a third rocket called Rocky Road with all the toppings painted on it that you can find on an ice cream cornet.

Maybe next week we can search for some more. I was frustrated that the app wouldn't work correctly on my phone.

None of us had brought a raincoat, so we were surprised by rain. But then, Basil was the one that got most wet.
