Long Service
Busy day off work today. Through from Forres to Elgin first thing, taking 65 minutes to get there, instead of the usual 20. Partly due to roadworks, but then due to being stuck behind two lorries carrying giant wind turbines. I managed to get ahead of them thanks to some side streets, and get a few pictures in the rain.
Later, through to Aberdeen's Beach Ballroom for the Grampian Police long service awards - the last before the single police force for Scotland. Dad was there for his 29-year service medal. We're not sure why Special Constables get awards at 9, 19 and 29 years (rather than 10, 20, 30). He's hanging up hat later this month, so a nice way to bow out. The pic on the left isn't his hat though - he's not Chief Constable - but it was a fitting image!
The sea in Aberdeen was the roughest I've seen! White waves as far as you could see, and foam being blown onto the road. The roads coming home were a bit dodgy too with fresh and drifting snow.
