Occupy the Steel Bridge
Back-blip.
After the Occupy Camp was violently and forcibly shut down, occupiers continued to protest foreclosures, economic injustice, and bank bailouts.
This action on November 17, 2011 involved twenty-five arrests. Despite media insistence that Occupy was a movement of unwashed youths and ne'er-do-wells, the average age of those arrested in this action was fifty. Riot cops showed up in full military riot gear with guns, tazers, pepper spray, and violent responses, although the protest was completely non-violent and the protesters were unarmed and harmless. One of my early articles for the Occupier was about this action and is here.
