Transforming Words

Caring, Radiant, Faithful, Pure, Wise and Humble.

Stopping off in Bradford for lunch on the way to a work commitment on the other side of town I stumbled on Hand Made in Bradford.
This new (to me) outlet and arts venue in what is probably a disused store that I think in a previous life was HMV - one the the highstreet national outlets whose business model has fallen foul of modern ways of buying and consuming popular music.
The ground flour was mostly art and crafts made in Bradford, upstairs was a bring your own food and drink cafe space which had a real sense of being a community space and pictures and paintings.

These pictures really struck me and left a lasting impression. These and about 20 other portraits hung the walls with a word describing an attribute of the young person. Beneath was a comment as to why someone had chosen that word to describe that individual.

It got me thinking, well all kinds of things really, it provoked personal memories too, the power of words, the words spoken over us as we grow that continue to resound in our heads for decades, those we choose for good or ill to speak to ourselves, the words that the media shouts in the ears of the youth today. Words that have the power to transform one way or another.

For these 6 young people
Caring, Radiant, Faithful, Pure, Wise and Humble.
Transforming words.

I must be more careful with words.
