A welcome break on our journey today.

Stephen has gone to the car to get the big umbrella and have a recce in the village where we’ve stopped on our journey to Yorkshire.
We’ve stopped here in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, at Ribchester to see where the car parks are situated and go and have a look at the old church where my friend Peter’s funeral will be held next Wednesday. And where he will be buried in the family grave.
I’ve been walking round the beautifully kept peaceful graveyard and found his parents’ graves and that of his sister Maureen, who was my best friend from being 5 years old until we were separated by different secondary schools, and our family moved house.
She was the one who gave me the name Biddy, which went with me to Grammar School as some of those childhood friends went at the same time.
A real trip down the years.
The village has Roman baths and a Roman Museum.
This is a very peaceful interlude sitting in the enclosed garden here surrounded by tall old trees and shrubbery.
The next part of our drive into Yorkshire takes us through Whalley and Clitheroe in the lee of Pendle Hill of Lancashire witches fame.
Staying in Gargrave overnight.
Soon be time to move so I’ll finish here.
