My First Dragonfly.
Have been trying to scout out locations for dragon/damselflies....unsuccessfully! A small group of us went to visit the wife of a photographer colleague who died May 2020. She had gathered together a number of photographic items for anybody who could make use of them. There was a very sturdy Manfrotto tripod but it was just too heavy for me and an equally sturdy mono pod which I already have but a very lightweight portable one. I came away with a very simple lightweight tripod suitable for travelling...travelling?...when will that be!
We took our cameras along as their large garden has a natural pond and I found my first dragonfly. It settled on the rim of a plastic flower pot - not that attractive but I managed a few shots and this was the best of them. I believe it to be a male Ruddy Darter but happy to hear from an expert if I am wrong. Missed a Comma butterfly which I haven't come across yet but wasn't quick enough - extra is a Gatekeeper.
