Our Own Media Team

Back-blip.

It was a privilege and an honor to be part of the Occupy Portland Media Team. These fine young men were on the video team. Our team told the story from inside the Occupy movement, and it was and is a very different story from that told by the commercial media. I contributed still photographs, news articles, and editing for other people's writing about Occupy. Each of us gave what our skills were for the hope of changing the world. In small ways, we were successful. Certain phrases, like "the 99%" have entered the popular imagination. The "conversation" regarding banks and lobbying groups, and the self-interest and greed of the 1%, has been altered permanently by the movement. Some of us who had never met each other remain connected and ready to move into action when protests are planned. We expanded our contacts with each other and deepened our desire for change.

"Never believe that a small group of caring people can't change the world, for indeed that's all who ever have." --Margaret Mead.
