Grass and ants

In my long lunch hour today I tackled the long grass in the lawn. It’s been amazing to watch it grow over the last few months but then time had come to cut it back so I got out the lawnmower and worked my way through it. The downside of letting the grass grow is that the ants have had a field day - literally! There were so many anthills with lots of red ants milling about. I’ve put powder on all of them now and at some point I’ll need to try and flatten the lawn a bit as it’s low rather bumpy. And of course, it will look pretty ragged until the grass starts growing normally again. But a good experiment this year although I’m not sure I’ll do it again, given the ant problem.

First day back at work but there’s hardly anyone else in this week so a good time to try and catch up on stuff.

And round to a friend’s this evening for a catch up in her garden - thank goodness that the weather was fine and relatively warm tonight! I had said I’d go into the conservatory if needed - I think the other two would have happily just met in the house as usual but I’m not quite ready for that yet. I was asked what else needs to happen for me to be ready, now that I’m double jabbed? I guess case numbers falling and some more definitive information about long covid. And maybe just time.
