"They" tell us that we'll get bigger Bulbs if we remove the "Scapes".  The thing is - how big will they get if I do?  Granted these are "Elephant" Garlic but the question is still valid.  I measured that Gate/Door at 5'-9" or 1.75m.

How about the edificeering Ivy-Leaved Toadflax?
