Gannets in the early morning sunshine
No boat trip from Bridlington this morning, because of the wind. But - almost unprecedented for me - I got up just before 5 a.m. and headed up to Bempton for a walk along the cliffs. There was a stunning sunrise, though I wasn't on the ball enough to get an image of it (I was still fumbling around with bootlaces and camera bags).
It was very beautiful, up on the cliffs. The sunshine was turning the pale cliffs slightly golden, and birds (mostly gannets) were silhouetted against a glowing sea.
I didn't spot any puffins; but the gannets were still busy with their growing families (main picture). And watching them wake up, have a stretch and groom each other was lovely.
