Glasgow City Chambers
Again in Glasgow for work & as my meeting was in the City Chambers I reckoned on getting a decent blip out of it. In a previous life, I worked for the then Glasgow District Council and while it is true that the Chambers could double as an Italian palazzo, most employees are beavering away in the somewhat less glamorous buildings nearby. i was in the one to the rear of the Chambers but if my memory serves me correctly, there was a connecting corridor.
As a result of the visit today, I have plenty of pics of the stunning marble interior but you've probably seen them all before. And I'm learning - mostly learning to look up! Which is what I did here & it reminded me of the beautiful Cathedral ceiling I blipped on Saturday. Today its a civic cathedral but no less dramatic for all that & a testament to how our 19th century forebears thought about public buildings. The picture can cope with some enlargement to look at the amazing detail on a ceiling so high you'd wonder who would notice.
