Flies off
The very delicate jasmine flowers on the new plant I got in July fall off incredibly easily on our windy balcony.... And it will have to come in during the winter as it's not hardy. Hmmm. Maybe not a suitable purchase. But they are pretty.
We've now identified the fourth plant that we put into the troughs (and forgot to keep the seed packets). It appears to be a snapdragon of some sort, which is in with the poppies. As the poppies get very leggy, they are allowing more light to reach the other plants that have been slowly growing, and now they are starting to push out some buds. Nothing worth photographing yet.
Today was perhaps the end of the good weather. Thunderstorms are due in overnight and may stay with us for days. Well, let's see. It's been very dry here on the whole. The Water of Leith is very low. It has still been quite warm today, a bit muggy and rather windy. The balcony door is open, which means I can hear faint sounds from Easter Road over the way, where Hibs are entertaining Croatian opposition, plus the music that one of our neighbours is kindly regaling us with. Mr A says that the neighbours opposite which have a ridiculously yappy dog which seems to spend most of its time on their balcony have suddenly started shushing it up. Perhaps they have had complaints.
I popped out to do a bit of extra shopping so that Mr A could make Thomasina Miers’ recipe for romano peppers stuffed with herbs, olives and goat’s cheese. It was delicious. Exactly my kind of food. Mr A says his feet are still sore from all the street bashing we did in Barcelona, so he's passing on any additional walking at present. Plus, of course, there is the issue of the lift, for which no solution is in sight. Our factors are ridiculous.
Hey ho, we roll on.
