Buff-tailed Bumblebee.
long day in the garden. Two main jobs. Continuing to prepare the site where the shed was for the larger heavier Summerhouse and continuing to dispose of parts of the old shed. Visits to the recycling are such a pleasure now the queueing system has gone and you can just drive in and park beside the "skip" you need rather than the empty bay allotted to you.
Among the work on the shed base I spotted this Bumblebee on the leaf of the Hosta. Why it had its tongue out I don't know, there certainly was nothing sweet near it. The Hosta was in flower but that was 30 or 40 cm ( 12 to 15 ") above.
