Brave New World

Evening all.

Had a bit of an opportunity to have a bit a wander about in the dark places of Sheffield where i never get to go.

Found quite a few old, abandoned, once grand buildings that had fallen into despair but would make ideal, if somewhat challenging photo opportunities were one brave enough to gain access.

Then ended up at the Sheffield Ski Centre, once a shining light in Sheffield's sporting crown, though why you'd put a light in a crown is beyond me.....
Now it is a tumbledown wreck of a place, various arson attacks and a lack of money have condemned it to the " do you remember" pile.

The site looks like something from a 1970s urban decay film rather than the brave new world of leisure and consumerism. However, it is amazing to see how quickly nature has reclaimed the space, the site is teeming with wildlife.

A huge dog fox wandered across the overgrown path not fifteen feet in front of me, gave me the evils and then wandered off again, birds drifted and circled in the sky in front of me, and the gypsies in the half hidden caravan that i stumbled across kindly showered me with stones and curses until i went away.

Hence a very quick photo of a bit of the Sheffield sky line in the early morning smog before i beat a hasty retreat to slightly safer paths.
